Kiarostami movies restored for worldwide screenings

Abbas Kiarostami movies has been restored for worldwide screenings.

The Abbas Kiarostami Foundation has announced that it has completed the restoration of a large lineup of his films for worldwide screenings. 

With the endeavors of the Kiarostami Foundation in association with French MK2 Films and US Janus Films/The Criterion Collection, the restoration of all works by this late Iranian director has been completed after two years.

Among the acquired titles are all the short films made for the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults and his other features and documentaries.

The screening of these films will begin next month at IFC in New York and Berkeley Film Archive in California. These will be taken to Europe next year.

A commemoration ceremony will also be held for Abbas Kiarostami next April at the Centre Pompidou in Paris with a screening of all his films as well as a display of his paintings, photographs, poetry, videos, and other works.

The renowned Iranian director, Abbas Kiarostami, was hospitalized from March to April 2016. He returned to hospital on a number of occasions until he left for Paris for further treatment in July 2016, but passed away in this city on July 4 at the age of 76.
